## Challenge

Daily oral TDF/FTC PrEP adherence during the periconception period had not been objectively characterized using pharmacologic drug level measurements in a South African HIV-exposed women cohort.

## Solution

Target RWE's HIV team analyzed objective TDF/FTC adherence data from drug concentration measurements among HIV-exposed South African women during periconception, describing adherence levels, temporal patterns, and predictors.

## Impact

Demonstrating objectively measured periconception PrEP adherence patterns provides HIV prevention partners with evidence of real-world adherence challenges, supporting adherence-enhancing intervention development.
