## Challenge

High PrEP uptake had been observed in controlled settings, but whether women with personal or partner HIV risk would achieve high objective adherence to daily oral TDF/FTC PrEP in real-world periconception settings remained unknown.

## Solution

Target RWE's HIV team analyzed longitudinal PrEP uptake and objective adherence data from HIV-exposed South African women with personal or partner HIV risk planning for pregnancy.

## Impact

Demonstrating high PrEP uptake and objective adherence among motivated periconception women provides evidence that real-world PrEP effectiveness is achievable, informing HIV prevention program scaling strategies.
