## Challenge

Lipid testing following MI hospitalization is recommended to guide secondary prevention management, but whether hospitalization itself serves as a teachable moment driving increased testing had not been characterized in real-world US adult data.

## Solution

Target RWE researchers analyzed lipid testing trends before and after MI hospitalization in a large US population, quantifying the degree to which hospitalization drives increased testing and characterizing predictors of post-discharge guideline-concordant testing.

## Impact

Documenting that MI hospitalization drives only modest increases in lipid testing identifies a quality improvement opportunity for cardiovascular secondary prevention drug development programs.
