Head of Quantitative Sciences
Melissa Estevez, MS
Melissa Estevez leads Quantitative Sciences at Pedestal Health, where she sets the vision for rigorous, regulatory-grade real-world evidence across both retrospective and prospective studies. Her career has focused on turning electronic health record (EHR) data into reliable real-world data (RWD) and real-world evidence (RWE). At Pedestal, her team of epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and data scientists partner with life sciences clients to design and deliver analyses that answer their most pressing research questions. She also defines the validation frameworks that make Pedestal's data products richer and more reliable.
Before joining Pedestal Health, Melissa spent more than nine years at Flatiron Health in a series of roles. Most recently, she led predictive modeling within Flatiron’s Research Sciences group, building the company’s capability to win and execute novel predictive modeling engagements. Prior to that, she led Research Sciences for AI/ML-based EHR curation, transforming unstructured oncology data into high-quality, analysis-ready datasets. In this role, she led development of Flatiron's framework for validating AI-curated data, published as the VALID framework in JCO Clinical Cancer Informatics, and helped shape the strategy for developing and commercializing AI-curated data products.
Earlier in her career, Melissa worked as a life sciences consultant, helping biopharma clients make commercial and strategic decisions through primary market research, competitive analysis, due diligence, and forecasting.
Melissa holds a Masters Degree in Biotechnology and a Bachelors of Science in Engineering, both from the University of Pennsylvania.
