A comparison of stable vs progressive hidradenitis suppurativa: insights from TARGET-DERM HS
Challenge
The clinical trajectory of HS in real-world practice—specifically what distinguishes patients with stable disease from those who progress—had not been characterized using a large, prospective multi-site US/Canadian registry, limiting the ability of clinicians and sponsors to identify at-risk patients early.
Solution
The TARGET-DERM HS registry was analyzed to compare baseline and longitudinal characteristics between stable and progressive HS patients, characterizing the demographic, clinical, and disease-severity features associated with disease progression in usual care.
Impact
Identifying real-world predictors of HS progression provides drug developers with evidence-based enrichment criteria for clinical trials targeting progressive disease, and gives clinicians actionable signals for earlier escalation of therapy in patients most likely to worsen.
